This article studies the portrayal of heroism in the novels of renowned American author Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway’s works are known for their depiction of stoic, courageous characters who exhibit a unique brand of heroism. Through an analysis of key works such as “ The old Man and the Sea”, “For whom the Bell Tolls” and “A Farewell to Arms”, this study explores how Hemingway’s protagonists embody heroism in the face of adversity, exploring themes of bravery, sacrifice and existential struggle. By examining Hemingway’s distinct narrative style and character development, this article sheds light on the nuanced representation of heroism in his literature and its enduring impact on readers and literary scholars alike.
