Abstract: Despite recent changes, the traditional Confucian structure of social
relations can be seen to have many similarities in Korean behavior. Respect for elders
Age and social status are important. Those who are younger or of lower social status
believe that they must obey their elders’ wishes without objection. Therefore, in Korea,
people are often interested in a person’s age and marital status to determine their
position towards that person. These questions are not asked out of idle curiosity.
However, you can choose not to respond to them if you don’t want to.
