Abstract: In an increasingly interconnected world, the translation of cultural
words and concepts presents unique ethical challenges that demand careful
consideration. This article explores the ethical implications of cultural translation,
focusing on the responsibilities of translators as cultural mediators. It addresses issues
such as cultural appropriation, representation, and the potential for misinterpretation,
highlighting the delicate balance between fidelity to the source material and sensitivity
to the target audience's cultural context. Through case studies and examples, the
article examines how translators can navigate these ethical dilemmas, advocating for
practices that promote respect and understanding across cultures. By emphasizing the
importance of ethical awareness in translation, this article aims to foster a deeper
appreciation for the role of translators in shaping cross-cultural communication and
preserving the integrity of diverse cultural narratives.
